What is Grammar Checker?

A grammar checker analyzes your text for grammar errors, spelling mistakes, and style issues. This tool uses pattern-based detection to catch common problems like double spaces, missing capitalization after periods, repeated words, confused words (their/there/they're), and 17+ common misspellings. It runs entirely in your browser -- your text is never sent to any server.

How to Use Grammar Checker

  1. 1

    Enter your text

Paste or type the text you want to check into the text area. The tool accepts any length of text -- from a single sentence to a full article.

  2. 2

    Click Check Grammar

Press the Check Grammar button or use Ctrl+Enter. The tool scans your text for grammar, spelling, and style issues using built-in pattern rules.

  3. 3

    Review the issues

Each issue is listed with its type (grammar/spelling/style), line number, and a suggestion. Click any issue to expand the detailed suggestion.

  4. 4

    Apply fixes

Click Fix All to automatically correct all safe fixes (double spaces, capitalization, misspellings, repeated words). Issues that need human judgment are left for you to review.

  5. 5

    Copy or re-check

After fixing, re-run the check to verify. Copy the cleaned text or the issue list for reference.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my text sent to any server?+
No. All grammar checking runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your text never leaves your device -- there are no API calls or server processing.
What types of errors does it detect?+
The tool checks for three categories: Grammar (double spaces, missing caps, repeated words, punctuation), Spelling (17+ common misspellings), and Style (sentence fragments, confused word pairs).
Does it catch every grammar error?+
This tool catches the most common errors using pattern-based rules. For advanced grammar checking (subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, complex clause analysis), consider using it alongside a full NLP-powered grammar tool.
What does Fix All do?+
Fix All applies safe, non-ambiguous corrections: removing double spaces, fixing capitalization after periods, correcting known misspellings, and removing repeated words. It does NOT auto-fix confused words (their/there) since those require context understanding.
Can I check text in other languages?+
Currently the grammar checker is optimized for English text. The misspelling dictionary and confused word rules are English-specific. Other languages may be added in future updates.
How do I use the click-to-highlight feature?+
Click any issue in the results list to highlight it. The issue expands to show the full suggestion. Click it again to collapse. This helps you locate the exact position of each problem.
Does it check for passive voice or readability?+
This version focuses on grammar, spelling, and basic style issues. For readability scoring and passive voice detection, try the Readability Score Checker tool.
Can I use this for academic or professional writing?+
Yes, it is a great first pass to catch common errors. For academic papers or professional documents, use it as an initial screening step alongside a more comprehensive grammar tool.
