Scan stuck or never finishes?

Audits typically complete in 30-90 seconds. Anything beyond ~3 minutes usually means something specific went wrong. Here's the troubleshooting ladder.

1. Check the site is publicly reachable

Open the URL in a private/incognito tab. If the site requires login, blocks our crawler via robots.txt, or sits behind Cloudflare's challenge page (CAPTCHA / Bot Fight Mode aggressive setting), we can't crawl it. Workarounds:

  • Auth-walled sites: Pro+ tiers will support an auth cookie soon. For now, scan the public sitemap subset.
  • Cloudflare blocking: Add our user-agent SlapMyWebBot/1.0 to your allowlist, or temporarily turn off "Bot Fight Mode" while you scan.
  • robots.txt blocking us: Allow SlapMyWebBot or simply allow * for the scan.

2. Check if the site is slow

If PageSpeed Insights itself takes >60s, our Performance v2 audit (which calls PSI v5) will time out. The scan completes other modules but flags Performance as "unavailable — timeout". This is honest reporting, not a bug.

3. Re-run the scan

From the audit detail page, click Re-scan. Cached results are bypassed and a fresh queue job runs.

4. Still stuck after re-run?

Open a support ticket. Include:

  • The scan URL
  • The scan ID (visible in the dashboard URL)
  • Approximate time it's been stuck
