Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from basic PDF text extractors?+
Most free tools only extract raw text from PDFs and wrap it in a simple Word document. Our converter uses the LibreOffice engine to properly convert the PDF — preserving formatting, tables, images, headers, and page layout. The result is a true .docx file that looks like the original PDF.
Does it preserve images and tables?+
Yes. The LibreOffice engine preserves embedded images, tables, and most formatting elements. Complex graphics or highly designed PDFs may have minor layout differences, but text, tables, and images are reliably converted.
What about scanned PDFs?+
Scanned PDFs that contain only images (no selectable text) will convert as image-only documents. For scanned PDFs, you would need OCR (Optical Character Recognition) first to extract the text.
Is there a file size limit?+
Yes, the maximum file size is 50MB. Most documents are well under this limit. Very large PDFs may take up to 30 seconds to convert.
Are my files stored on your server?+
No. Files are processed in a temporary directory and deleted immediately after conversion — typically within seconds. We do not store, read, or analyze your documents.
Can I convert password-protected PDFs?+
Currently, password-protected PDFs are not supported. Remove the password protection from your PDF first, then upload it for conversion.
What can I open the DOCX file with?+
The output .docx file works with Microsoft Word (2007+), Google Docs, LibreOffice Writer, Apple Pages, WPS Office, and any application that supports the OOXML format.
How long does conversion take?+
Most documents convert in 2-10 seconds. Larger or more complex PDFs may take up to 30 seconds. The progress bar shows real-time status.
