The short version

What is llms.txt Generator?

llms.txt is a markdown file you publish at the root of your domain to tell AI assistants what your site is and which pages are worth reading.

The format is published at llmstxt.org: an H1 with your project name, a blockquote summarising it, optional prose with no headings, then H2 sections containing markdown links with a short note after a colon. This generator builds that file from a form and runs the result through the same validator we publish as a separate tool, so the file you copy has been checked rather than merely assembled. The whole thing runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

Step by step

How to use llms.txt Generator

  1. 1

    Name the site

The H1 is the only element the format makes mandatory. Use the name a person would recognise, not a tagline.

  2. 2

    Write the summary

One paragraph on what the site is and who it is for. This is the line an assistant is most likely to repeat, so make it accurate rather than promotional.

  3. 3

    Add sections and links

Group pages under headings like Docs or Guides. Give every link a short note — the note is what lets a model choose between your pages.

  4. 4

    Put secondary pages under Optional

A section named Optional marks links a reader may skip when it needs a shorter context. Changelogs and archives belong there.

  5. 5

    Download and upload

Save the file and serve it at yourdomain.com/llms.txt. Then re-check it any time with our llms.txt Validator.
