Frequently Asked Questions

How well does it extract tables?+
PDFs with clearly structured tables (grid lines, consistent columns) convert best. The engine detects table boundaries and maps data to spreadsheet cells. Complex multi-table layouts may need manual adjustment.
What about PDFs without tables?+
Text-only PDFs will still convert — the text is placed into cells. However, the tool is most useful for PDFs with tabular data like invoices, financial reports, and data exports.
Does it preserve formulas?+
No. PDFs do not contain formula information — only displayed values. The XLSX will contain the visible text/numbers as static values, not formulas.
What about scanned PDFs?+
Scanned PDFs (image-only) cannot be converted to Excel directly. You need OCR first to extract the text. Try our PDF OCR tool, then convert the result.
Is there a file size limit?+
Yes, the maximum file size is 50MB. Most documents are well under this limit. Large files may take up to 30 seconds to convert.
Are my files stored on your server?+
No. Files are processed in a temporary directory and deleted immediately after conversion. We do not store, read, or analyze your documents.
Can I convert password-protected PDFs?+
Currently, password-protected PDFs are not supported. Remove the password protection first, then upload for conversion.
What spreadsheet apps can open the output?+
The .xlsx output works with Microsoft Excel (2007+), Google Sheets, LibreOffice Calc, Apple Numbers, WPS Office, and any app supporting the OOXML format.
